Privacy policy
Effective 19 October 2026
Koma Widgets is an Android home screen widget app made by Flavio Santoro (contact: [email protected]). This policy explains what data the app and this website use, and why.
In short
- No account, no ads, no analytics or tracking tools.
- The developer runs no servers for the app and does not receive, collect or store personal data.
- The only personal data that leaves your device is your location, rounded to about 1 km and sent to the weather source you choose.
Location
With “Device location” selected, the app reads your location to show the weather where you are. With the “Allow all the time” permission it also refreshes it while the app is closed, to keep widgets up to date. Coordinates are rounded to 0.01° (about 1 km) and sent only to the weather source selected in the settings (and, for air quality, to GeoSphere Austria, or to Open-Meteo if you entered an Open-Meteo key). The place name comes from Android’s system geocoding service. You can set a fixed city instead, in which case the app does not read your location.
Possible weather sources, each with its own privacy policy: MET Norway, the Italian Air Force Weather Service, GeoSphere Austria, Bright Sky (Deutscher Wetterdienst data), Met Office, Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap, WeatherAPI.com, AccuWeather, Google Weather. Sources that need a key receive the API key you entered.
Data that stays on your device
- Calendar: events are read only to show them in the calendar and agenda widgets.
- Steps (Health Connect): the app reads only today’s step total, to show it in the Steps widget. It writes nothing to Health Connect, sends the data to no server, shares it with no one and uses it for no advertising or other purpose. Use of data received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Notification access: used only to read the title, artist, artwork and playback state of what’s playing for the Music widget. Other notifications are neither read nor stored.
- Photos: the photo you pick for the Photo widget is copied into the app’s private storage.
- Settings, notes, counters and API keys: stored only in the app’s storage.
Other services the app contacts
- Wikipedia (Wikimedia): the “On this day” widget requests the day’s events; the request contains only the date and language.
- Google Play: the Koma Pro purchase is handled entirely by Google Play under Google’s privacy policy. The app only receives the purchase confirmation, which is not sent to the developer.
All connections use HTTPS. Requests to weather sources include an app identifier with the developer’s contact email, as MET Norway requires; they contain no data about you.
This website
komawidgets.com uses no analytics, no ads and no third-party content: fonts and images are served from this site. It sets one cookie, lang, only when you pick a language, to remember your choice for a year. The server keeps no access logs.
Retention and deletion
The developer stores no data. Data on the device is deleted by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Android settings. You can revoke permissions at any time in Android settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data about them.
Changes
Changes will be published on this page with a new effective date.
